Staten Island, New York
This iReport is part of an assignment:
Wintry weather 2014
Ice in the NYC Rivers make for an unusual sight
Taking the Staten Island Ferry to work every day makes for a beautiful commute each day. Yes, there are days when it is dark and cloudy, other days when it is so foggy you can't see anything, but most often is it a gorgeous ride. Every now and then you see something absolutely breathtaking, like my evening commute home where we were surrounded by ice. Or the spectacular sunset Mother Nature provided to make up for the extreme cold. I have been riding the ferry twice a day every day for the past eight years and have never seen ice like this. I also work practically right on top of the East River, so I went out at lunchtime to get more pics of the ice. It is an AMAZING sight to see. I guess one little advantage of the extreme cold. It's amazing what Mother Nature can do!
