This iReport is part of an assignment:
Thailand / Reform before Election: A report from Phuket
Tell us your storyKhun Pongsa is Forest official Chief Conservation and Watershed Management in the province of Ranong (Chumphon) and came to talk to Phuket citizens yesterday because he, like all the members of the PDRC, he wants to do a reform before the election. The Supreme Court in Thailand has already confirmed the possibility of postponing the coming election on February 2. But the government does not agree and does not want to make any reform before the coming election.
A greener Thailand is also on the agenda of Khun Pongsa’s plan for the future of Thailand. In a nearly two hour speech, he explained with wits and humor to thousands of people who came to see him, his vision of Thailand. He talked about the land, the land that loses its trees every day. The same land that ends out being sold to banks to enable people to get loans. Khun Pongsa talked about the lack of social consciousness regarding caring for others and caring for the environment; he believes firmly that Thai people can achieve their goal of reforming the country. Khun Pongsa is man with deep insights for his people, his country and the world.
