This data is compiled from reporting done by the Chicago Tribune Breaking News staff and is updated approximately once per month. Therefore, the most recent shootings may not be displayed immediately.
Follow the link provided to see the map. The map shows where people were shot in Chicago, broken down by community area.
With all the recent shootings we are seeing these days around the country, I find it interesting that more isn't being reported by the national media on all of the everyday shootings we are seeing in many of our major cities.
I singled out Chicago because they have some of the strictest gun control laws in the Country while having one of the highest rates of gun violence. Gun violence also seems to be on the increase in many of our other major cities and yet very little is being said about it.
I have to ask why?
I would like to see the national media focus more attention on these everyday shootings we see in many of our major cities. The numbers are astronomical to say the least and yet very little is being reported about it on a national level.
Bringing media attention to this big city problem could bring about more conversation, and more conversation could bring about new solutions as strict gun control laws have proven themselves to be ineffective.
What are your thoughts on how to bring to an end this big city gun violence?
