CNN PRODUCER NOTE     iReporter Jon1001, who wishes to remain anonymous, shot these images of pro-Europe protesters on the front line of battles with security forces in Kiev, Ukraine just before midnight Monday. "Access to the first line is only allowed for those wearing a helmet and women are not allowed, for security reasons, to go to the first line," he said. For the latest on the crisis in Ukraine read CNN's news story.

These pictures were shot shortly before midnight 27.01.2014. They show the frontline on Hrushevsky street. About 50 metres separate the protesters from the Berkut anti-riot police. There are 3 lines of defences in this sector. Access to the first line is only allowed for those wearing a helmet and women are not allowed, for security reasons, to go to the first line. The organisation of the protests is highly disciplined. The protesters have also received plenty of clothes, food, money and medication from the population of Kiev and other cities. Included are also pictures from defences and tents at Maidan. There is an interesting array of flags at the northern defences of the Maidan. The flag of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (WWII), the Ukrainain State Flag and the Russian State Flag. The first and the latter I have never seen flying together.
