Mimoona partners with actress/designer Jessica Rey’s Swim Wear Brand

Fashion start up Mimoona helps brands to test the demand for new garments before production on their own website, without taking the risks involved with launching new garments.

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Although shipping her swim wear to 19 different countries around the globe, actress/designer Jessica Rey, known to her fans as Alyssa, the ‘White’ Power Ranger, keeps an open mind for new ideas and requests coming from her customers. However, as an experienced brand owner, Rey knows that the realization of these requests often involves business risks of excess inventory and lost sales. For that reason exactly, ReySwimwear has partnered with Mimoona.

Instead of using previous market research and intuition to inform design specifics such as color, size and style, Mimoona harnesses collective opinion as a market research tool. Designers can post the garments they are considering to produce on their own website in different variations. Customers can then browse through the different designs and pre-order the garments they like. If the design reaches the minimum amount (set by the designer) that would make it worthwhile to produce the garment, the designer will move to the production phase and customers will be charged automatically. If there is not sufficient demand for a product, the customers who did back that particular item will not be charged and the designer will not spend time and money over unnecessary production.
“Last summer, we received many emails requesting sizes 1X and 2X swimsuits”, sais Jessica Rey. “Because we are a small company, we decided to test the demand first with a crowdsourcing model.”
Using Mimoona, fashion designers/brands offer advantages to their customers also, as pre-ordering new, cutting edge designs empowers them to maintain and strengthen their unique style. From a financial standpoint, by using Mimoona to alleviate and reduce excess inventory and lost sales, results in designers refraining from grossing up these risks in the garments’ prices.
Mimoona was part of the DreamIt Ventures accelerator program in New York City and its founders previously launched the most successful crowdfunding platform in Israel.
