CNN PRODUCER NOTE Eric Casolo and his wife had a harrowing trip home to suburban Atlanta on Tuesday night. He says he left work at about 5:30 p.m. and took back roads until he got stranded about 12 to 14 miles from his house. Casolo says he then walked a mile or two until a good Samaritan named Chris picked him up in his jeep and drove him as far as he could.
Casolo says his wife parked her car at a dentist's office and they met up at a Mexican restaurant that stayed open for stranded travelers.
Once they warmed up, Casolo and his wife walked on a bike trail to get to their house. They made it home at about 2 a.m. ET.
He says he hopes he can pick up his truck in a couple of days.
