Birmingham is a BIG mess today! They did not dismiss the students soon enough until the snow is already on the ground. They thought they would get the kids home with buses, but ended up the road condition was so bad that the bus drivers couldn't get to schools to drive the buses. So they contacted parents to come and pick up kids as soon as "safely" can. Now you have whole bunch of parents driving cars up and down the hills, sliding, trying to move around stalled vehicles and ended up that there were piles of cars here and there, and many drivers simply abandoned their cars on the road and walked their kids home. Now you have tons of cars on the road that you cannot even move them aside. It is only 3 miles for me to drive to kids' schools from home. It took me 3.5 hours to weave through cars and people to get there and back. Luckily, I was able to navigate through without sliding or a scratch.
