PRODUCT REVIEW OF LEICA C (TYPE 112) DIGITAL CAMERA, DEC. 2013
Leica C (Type 112) Digital Camera, by Steve Moskowitz/LVESN.....
The Leica C (Type 112) Digital Camera is a stylish compact pocket size camera and has the best lens and brilliant natural colors in low light or daylight in its class. This camera is manufactured to the highest of standards by Leica AG, a German optics company.
Some of the important highlights of this camera are: Leica DC Vario-Summcron 7X Zoom optical lens, f2 to 5.9 ASPH (28-200mm, 35mm equivalent), 12 Megapixel 1/1.7” sensor, Full HD Video, Raw or J peg Photos, Shutter speeds of 250 to 1/4000 a second, ISO of 80 to 12,800 with Program or Manual override, Flash, and WiFi.
The camera was tested under low and daylight conditions. Most photos were taken in Program mode or with ISO manually set at 100 for daylight and 400 for lowlight. Full HD videos were taken in Program MP4 mode. The excellent Auto focus (AF) mode was used throughout testing. All my test photos and videos turned out without little retouching required. Most of my subjects, who were Actors or Actresses, and Conventioneers, had positive comments about the camera, when the saw the red Leica logo.
The only flaw I found was the buttons on the camera are hard to read in lowlight, and it takes awhile to get use to all the controls and functions of this remarkable camera.
The camera's list price is $699, and comes boxed with Camera, Lithium-ion battery, Battery Charger, AV Cable, USB Cable, Wrist Strap, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 Software, and Warranty. It's a little pricey, but your paying for Leica quality and reliability. It is available in “dark red” or “light gold”.
