    Manila's Chinese New Year

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     MarloCueto photographed the festivities of the Chinese New Year on January 30 in Manila's Chinatown. 'It was a joyful celebration of mixed races-Filipinos, Filipino-Chinese, and tourists. Everyone was welcomed,' he said. He says many people were shopping for lucky charms, which he says bring good luck during the start of a new year. 'Fruit vendors were around the busy street of Binondo selling round-shaped fruits where people buy it as a tradition during New Year. It is believed that having eight round-shaped fruits on the table brings luck and the number 8 symbolizes infinity,' he explained. His first image was featured as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day for February 3, 2014.
