International Day of peace celebration in Bangladesh
The International Day of peace was celebrated by National Federation of Youth Organisations in Bangladesh (NFYOB) and Bangladesh PTPI Students Chapter in a festive mood not just in the national level but also in the grassroots in Bangladesh . In the national level a Child rally, art competition, bring out wall magazine and an exchange and sharing meeting on the importance of Children responsibility and rights was held with the young peoples.
On the day (21st September, 2008) a rally was held at 11am from Mohammadpur Azam Road to Asad Gate. About 100 children took part in the rally. After that one art competition was held at Shushu Kanon Art School , Azam Road , Mohammadpur, Dhaka . The art competition was divided into two groups one group was play to class five and another was six to ten. And the subjects were `beautiful country' and `peace for all'.
In the afternoon at 3pm a sharing opinion and sharing views on the importance of Children responsibility and rights was held with the young people. Students from 5 different institutions were participated in that program. ASM Saleh Ahmed, Bappa Maitra, Sakib Salek, Nila, Wondrila, Turjoy, Mayesha, Rima, Ria, Kona, Marzan, Sherajum, Fardin Khan, Mashrur and Shamsul Arefin expressed their opinions and ideas. After discussion they were committed to do at least one good thing/work for their family and also for country everyday.
Mr. Dulal Biswas Secretary General of National Federation of Youth Organisations in Bangladesh (NFYOB), Mr. Bidhan Chandra Pal, Contact Person for Bangladesh of South Asia Youth Environment Network & Executive Member of NFYOB, Mr. Syed Arif Mohammad Rumi, Principal, Shishu Kanon and Social Worker Mr. Abdul Latif were also speaking in it.
Mr. Dulal Biswas discussed the role of young people to create a peaceful world and the importance to build up war free world for the future generation. He read out the message from the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon on World Peace Day. Mr. Biswas also distributed prize among the winners of the art competition.
The main theme of the Wall Magazine was "We want war free world for the children". Many students were wrote poems, jocks, Articles on that wall.
For celebrating this day two or three NGOs were also organized some programs and More than 8 places this days was celebrated in the district level. In Noakhali, Khulna , Rajshahi and Jhinaidaha the youth members were organized special discussion to discuss the importance of that day.
