Winter weather 2014
Most of the good samaritans clearing the road had already freed their cars but wanted to help others who were still stranded. "I think this is a beautiful picture because it shows the resiliency of this community and [its] willingness to work together to help everyone," she said.
While this iReporter did not help clear the road and was not stranded, she did find her own way to help the community by offering her home to the mother of her friend who was stranded and ended up abandoning her car after sitting in traffic for eight hours. Her friend had posted a Facebook status to see if anyone in the area would offer her mother a place to sleep, and this iReporter willingly offered her home. "This was like nothing I have ever experienced," she said, "and it's frustrating that [Northerners] are laughing at something that was very serious and life-threatening to so many."
