    Sparked the conflict between the Jesuits and the Dominicans known as the Rite of Controversy during the 17th and 18th centuries, the Chinese Catholics annually incorporates the tradition of ancestral commemoration every New Year Mass to thank God for the new year that marks by the Spring Festival. This tradition of honoring the ancestors was allowed in 1939 by Pope Pius XII
