    Got a future Olympian?

    The Local Rink

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Canadian student KaiserNick captured these images of budding ice hockey enthusiasts careering around the ice at a park in North York, Ontario. "The community builds this rink every winter to allow people to teach their children how to skate, and to provide a place for others to play hockey or just skate for the fun of it," he said. While he does not play any winter sports himself, he said he always watches the Winter Olympics to cheer on his country's team, and he hopes that some of those on the ice may go on to greater things. "I think it is very important to encourage kids to play sports in an era when it's very easy to just stay inside and interact with people over the internet," he said.
    - sarahbrowngb, CNN iReport producer

About a month ago the local community decided to build a rink for people to enjoy during the winter months. This rink attracts people from all across the neighborhood, whether they are just learning to skate, or if they are seasoned skaters looking to polish off some of their skills.
It's great to see youth who are going outside and being active, playing real hockey, rather than virtual hockey on a gaming console.
