    Oz Bathing Beauties

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     SteveK65 and his wife watch the local Crimson Rosella and Eastern Rosella parrots that descend on the fountain in their frontyard in Bungendore, Australia, every morning to bathe. "Their antics and social hierarchy are a joy to watch," he said. This image was featured as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day for May 5, 2014.

It is eight in the morning, it is already 28deg C and these Ozzie birds are feeling the heat. They cannot get cool enough. Every summer morning they bathe in our fountain; there is a pecking order and a gender bias...Boys first, age before beauty. Any other bird that is not their colour is seen off. This is their patch, their neighbourhood. Ozzie birds have style and color, they do not suffer interlopers and they love the water. These Crimson Rosellas are kings of the fountain and rule this roost. They uplift the spirits of all who watch their bathing antics.
