A celebration nearly 150 years in the making
- Verybecoming, CNN iReport producer
In what will go down as the largest celebration since the town of Seattle incorporated nearly 150 years ago, the new Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks took their victory lap through the city streets today. Officials estimate the crowds along the 2 mile parade route to be nearly 750,000 people - almost 100, 000 more than actually live in the city proper. Interestingly, Seattle Police have reported that not one arrest was made during the 3+ hour parade. The fans affectionately known here as the ‘12th Man’ journeyed from all over the Pacific NW and points far beyond to cheer on their team and coaches - and from the looks of them an equally incredible time was had by all. As a life long resident of Seattle area and huge fan of the Hawks, I have never seen the city so incredible ecstatic and downright giddy as I have in the last few days. It really has been a long time coming - thank you Seahawks!
