Wintry weather 2014
Cold Reaches Danger Level in Denver
It's 8 degrees below zero as I type this and the cold is slithering in through every nook and cranny that hasn't been properly insulated in our tiny apartment.
The cold weather set a record low for today's date of 13 below zero. Denver has enough operating shelters for the homeless to house around 1,200 people, and the Denver Post reports that when the available overflow shelters open that number rises to accommodate around 1,500.
According to the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative survey conducted in January 2013 there are over 11,000 homeless in the Denver area. I'm curious to know where the rest of them go? It seems like this city is about 9,000 beds short.
