    Do you eat ethically?

    More from cinders23

    Local/Sustainable- we're trying!

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Wisconsin resident cinders23 credits her son and daughter with encouraging her to think about ethical eating. She now buys organic milk, purchases vegetables from farmer's markets and tries to eat fresh food wherever possible. "The one thing my son taught us is how to read a label," she said. "If there are more than six or seven ingredients it's usually full of fillers and chemicals. On the label, if you can't pronounce it -- don't buy it."
    - sarahbrowngb, CNN iReport producer

Our kids are teaching us to be more conscious of what we eat. This is a black-bean burger with fixins that our daughter made us for dinner. It was delicious! We didn't miss the beef hamburger at all! Our oldest is an organic farmer and has encouraged us to try to eat food that is grown locally. We have! Being in WI our growing season in not year-round. But there is a Winter Farmer's Market that we go to on Saturday mornings where we can get local goods. We feel happy about our changing ways. You CAN teach a couple of old dogs new tricks. Thanks, kids!
