Shopping cart under lock and key

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     marjfz thought that this shopping cart chained to a bike rack with all its paraphernalia would make a great picture for our 'Shopping carts in the wild' assignment. "I assumed it belonged to a homeless person who locks it up whenever he or she takes shelter from the cold," she said. The streets of New York are no stranger to abandoned shopping carts, some of which are used by homeless people to collect bottles and cans, marjifz said. "Finding an abandoned cart is not that difficult, so the homeless take advantage of that and put the cart to their personal use."
    - Verybecoming, CNN iReport producer

Adbandoned from the store, but not exactly abandoned, this shopping cart, along with various other items, was locked up with a heavy duty chain to a bike stand. It may be the 'mobile' home of a homeless person on the streets of NYC. No one was in the area, so no indication of who it may belong to. But based on the appearance, it is definitely 'owned' by someone.

Hopefully the owner has found some shelter indoors, away from the winter elements outdoors.
