Smuggler's Cove...to me this beach is sublime

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Kirk Ross visited Smuggler's Cove in Tortolla in 2008.
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

The first time we visited Tortolla, we rented a car to explore the beaches and, of course, Sage Mountain National Park. We kept hearing about this beach, Smuggler's Cove, but we couldn't get there in our little car...we needed a 4 Wheel Drive. So on our next visit, we were prepared and off we went to Smuggler's Cove.
So I realize that saying Smuggler's Cove is sublime is high praise for a beach, but let me explain what makes it so...for me.
To me, the perfect beach is in a cove with the land rising up behind the beach creating a "theatre effect" to start, some nice surf to play in, not too many people, but some...I like to have about 400 square feet all to myself (and my wife). There needs to be some good food available on the beach, and of course some good drinks. I need to feel safe. And, finally I don't want to be constantly bugged to buy jewellery or hats or anything. Let me also say that we have been to many beaches all over the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and even Asia, and this one is our favourite. It has it all. And the weather in Tortolla is almost always perfect. I can't wait to get back!
