The Miramar Entertainment center in Taipei, Taiwan received a massive fire department response when smoke billowed white then black from somewhere within the facility. Originally it looked like excess smoke from a rooftop vent from too many burgers on the Burger King grill in the food court. As the volume of white smoke plumed it was clear something was wrong. Shortly after the 3rd and 4th fire trucks hit the scene there was an audible popping sound and the smoke billowed more heavily, changing from white to dark smoke and wafting above the towering Ferris wheel that lights the Taipei skyline. As teams of fire fighters entered through one side of the complex, food court employees and patrons were filing out multiple exits, staring into the sky in apparent surprise, confusion and disbelief. The Taipei fire fighters quickly set up a command center and worked well in their coordinated efforts amongst the various engines and personnel. Within approximately 40 minutes the volume of smoke billowing from the rooftop turned back to a lighter color and died down.
