Puerto Ordaz still under control by students

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Venezuelan Elente took these photos of makeshift barricades built by students and locals in the southern Venezuelan city of Puerto Ordaz. The barricades formed part of anti-government protests in the city, and in others across the country, by residents demanding better security, economic reform and the release of protesters detained in earlier marches. "The students (along with smaller group of civilians) put barricades on every corner of the avenues, blocking the transit [routes] and yelling messages for peace, saying 'we don't want a Cubanized Venezuela'," he said. "The atmosphere is kind of tolerant between protesters and the police. Shops and mall owners are sympathetic with the students' actions." Read the latest on events in Venezuela here.
