YCIS Beijing Welcomes the Year of the Horse

On January 22, the entire YCIS Beijing community came together to usher in the Year of the Horse with a whole host of Chinese performances and a temple fair. Students in Kindergarten and Primary delighted a packed audience in the YCIS auditorium with a combination of dance and singing including traditional and modern songs. The Year 12 students at YCIS Beijing organised the temple fair in which, throughout the day, activities and refreshments were provided to give the students and parents a true Chinese New Year experience.

The performances were organised and co-ordinated by the Chinese Co-Principal Christine Xu and the Chinese teachers who played a vital role in putting together an exciting and informative event. Each performance reflected what has been studied within the Chinese study programme at the school with music, dance, poetry and presentations. Within the Temple Fair in the gymnasium, activities such as making Chinese dumplings and face painting were organised with different games for the younger students and their parents.

This year’s Chinese New Year celebration was a real credit to the extensive Chinese language and culture programme at YCIS Beijing, giving students and parents a real insight to the most important event of the Chinese calendar.
