    13,000-volt Light & Sound Show

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     John Roemer captured video of electrical sparks flaring at night after fallen trees took down power lines outside his home in Sparks, Maryland, on February 14. Public utility electricians at the scene explained to him that this was a 13,000-volt line. He says power on his road was out from midnight to 9 a.m. But after it was restored the next day, he went out and cut up the fall trees and hauled them to his barn. 'I'll use them to hear our house next year,' he said.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

I took this video just after midnight near my house in Sparks, Maryland. The brilliant colors and sounds occurred when fallen trees grounded a 13K-volt overhead power line. The intermittent display lasted more than 3 hours. The power company restored power later in the morning. The trees will be heating my house next winter.
