    Shocking CDC Survey Results

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released some survey data in January that I think is both very troubling and very telling. According to the results, only one in four American children between the ages of twelve and fifteen are getting at least one hour of vigorous physical activity each day. The survey results were based on the responses of approximately 800 kids in the 2012 National Youth Fitness Survey. Now, I admit that when I first heard these results, I was shocked. As a teenager, I know how many of my fellow young people yearn to look great and fit, but what I don't understand is why so many of us are not choosing to get to that point the simplest and healthiest way: through proper exercise. Right now is the time to be laying that solid, healthy foundation so that we can go on to lead fit and active lives. So, if you are a teenager, I encourage you to make daily physical activity a new priority in your life. Or, if you know a young person, I encourage you to help him or her see the importance of sufficient vigorous exercise each day. This issue is so critical that I believe we cannot ignore it any longer.
