Salute to troops
A Salute to Petty Officer Malcolm Rojas
I want to send a special salute to my son, Petty Officer Malcolm Rojas who is currently serving in the United States Navy. This is the least I can do to show my support for him and all the troops. I am honored to be his mother. And while raising my son in New York City, I always tried to encourage him to do better and be better than me. Thank God he listened. To watch him grow up in such a rough part of town to where he is now is a blessing in itself. When he enlisted in the Navy, over 5 years ago, I was told by his recruiters that I would have to give him up 100%. I must say it wasn't easy. That was one of the hardest things I ever had to do in my life. Then I became a "Navy Mom" and I knew that this would be the best thing for Malcolm and his future.
Watching him excel and graduate to Petty Officer is so gratifying. I recently went see him on base in Jacksonville Florida, where Malcolm took me on a tour of the “USS Philippine Sea". I've learned so much. I now have a clearer understanding and greater respect for the Navy. My father who was an Army Veteran would be so proud of him, from the time he was born my father always wanted him to join the Military. The Navy has truly groomed Malcolm to become an officer and a gentleman. Very soon Malcom and the sailors will be deployed for 9 months and I want to tell him how very proud I am to be his mother. Hang in there, you're doing excellent. I love and miss him so much. It was an honor meeting all the troops.
STAY NAVY STRONG! Love a proud navy mom
