    Creating Azulejos at Power Ceramics

Decorating with ceramic tile is not new, but you can create your own brand new hand painted tiles in a class at Power Ceramics, a Columbus area ceramic studio. Run by Carolyn Power, who has been hand painting ceramic and porcelain tiles for over 20 years, Power Ceramics offers classes to all level of students.
Decorations are hand-painted unto the raw unbaked glazed tiles. The enamel and the pigments are then fired together at a high temperaturein a kiln. At this temperature, colours merge into the glaze. This technique is called "underglaze" .
When finished, these tiles will last years and are often used to decorate backsplashes or countertops.
The designs can be as simple or intricate as desired and can be completed in a couple of class meetings.
For more info on learning this technique contact Power Ceramics via their website at PowerCeramics.com
