    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Young Venezuelans unhappy with the ravaged economy and rising crime have been clashing with security forces for weeks. Three anti-government protesters died in clashes last week in Caracas, and authorities have issued an arrest warrant for an opposition leader on charges including conspiracy and murder in connection with the violence. Most recently, a 17-year-old was hit by a truck and killed during a protest in Carupano, Venezuela.

    Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Sunday ordered three U.S. diplomatic officials expelled from the country, accusing them of conspiring against his government. Read more on

    Gabriela Isabella Sanchez Chaco lives in Kansas City, Missouri, where local Venezuelans expressed solidarity with the anti-government protesters on Saturday.

    It was at 4pm at the Plaza in Kansas City.
    We are trying to cause awareness for the plight of the people of Venezuela.
    The government is fighting against the people who are speaking up about such things as the oppression and the mandated rationing of necessities.
    We are attempting to get the attention of America's leaders and/or the UN to see what can be done to help the people of Venezuela.
    The Venezuelan government has seized control of all media, even internet communication in order to command total control and hide their actions.
    Today's demonstration is the beginning of a movement to, create nation-wide awareness in America of this growing civil-war and to, for instance, encourage the UN to go in and see what the Venezuelan government is doing.
