    Colonie Coliseum

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     chamberdoor, a photographer, has a love of abandoned spaces that have been overrun by nature, which is why her boyfriend took her to see the Colonie Coliseum, also known as the Starlite Music Theater, in Latham, New York, prior to its demolition in 2012. "The photos depict my point of view as I walked around the Coliseum," she said. In its heyday, the Coliseum played host to a number of stars like Wayne Newton, Bob Hope, Johnny Cash and even a boxing match headlined by Mike Tyson, she said.

The Colonie Coliseum was demolished on November 15, 2012.

    The Colonie Coliseum
The Colonie Coliseum, also known as the Starlite Music Theatre, was operational in Latham, NY, from 1958-1997. Headlining a variety of stars from Wayne Newton, Bob Hope and Johnny Cash to Mike Tyson, George Carlin and Megadeath, the Coliseum seated 1,800 people comfortably in a unique partially exposed amphitheater. Changing hands multiple times over its almost 40-year history, it finally closed for good in 1997 and was left untouched until its demolition in November 2012.

Photographing abandoned places is a particular interest of mine. I have my complete albums available online at www.chamberdoorart.com.
