ELECTRIC by definition means having or producing a sudden sense of thrilling excitement. In my opinion Angela Simmons delivered all that plus the electrifying surge to finalize New York Fashion week in sizzling style. We expect to see fashion, lots of fashion, but on February 11, 2014 Simmons handcrafted not only a material based experience but an overall exhilarating evening. Starting from the exclusive Manhattan location, 404 hosted well over fifteen hundred noted socialites and celebrities throughout the evening's presentation. Guests poured in and enjoyed a plethora of delectable treats courtesy of the Sugar Factory and viewed history in the making. Black lights bounced off neon couture and offered guests an experience well worth the wait. While those in line waited in the bitter New York cold, guests inside feasted on fudge-filled desserts and posed in an interactive photo booth, The Bosco. The highlight of the evening was the live presentation of fitted garments on bright lipped models cleverly paired with Lucite clutches. Focusing on her obvious talent, Angela had an excess amount of support on her big night. Besides the “ANGELA I AM” team who helped recreate her playful vision of fashion and sweet treats, the neon pink carpet was consistently generating its own buzz. Interviews with Uncle Rush, Little brother Diggy, Jermaine Paul, Bow Wow, Jermaine Dupri, Ty Hunter, Adrienne Bailon, Bridget Kelly, Juelz Santana, Kimbella, Yandy Smith and many more showcased the “electric” energy everyone was feeling. The live performance of two time EMMY award winning violinist Damien Escobar was an added bonus as he graced the crowd with his signature fresh to death twist on popular R&B covers. Wondering around the venue you either were sucked in by the luminous Monster headphones or any one of the appealing vendors on the second level. Fashion week never defines a trend; it denies a trend. The one week where there are no rules allows designers to go hard and alter any given style. Angela Simmons clearly understood that and decided to take her reputation as a reality star/celebrity child and launch her as a free standing celebrity identity. An undoubtedly “Electric Daze” experience to remember.
