Check the Face book video posted by Jonathan Head. It clearly shows a police officer hit in the back of the head by the grenade as he took his place in the police line. His head is lower than his shield and lurches forward, so the only way he could have been hit is if the grenade came from behind. After he is hit in the head, the grenade can be seen laying on the ground between his shield and the shield of the police officer to his left. That police officer, on loan from the city of Pattaya where I live, tried to kit the grenade away as it went off. In short, contrary to your reporting, the grenade was not thrown by the protesters but by the police who are to stupid to know how to use one.
