Nation's Top Urgent Care Center to Open in Bridgeport
Bridgeport area residents are about to receive access to one of the nation's top health care facilities. The new state-of-the-art Doctors Express Bridgeport Urgent Care Center, located at 161 Boston Ave, opens to the public on Monday, March 3rd.
A special Ceremonial Grand Opening evening event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12th from 4-8pm when Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch, as well as other community leaders, and businessmen and women from the area will gather to celebrate the opening of the new office.
The new Doctors Express Bridgeport, led by Greenwich Hospital emergency room veteran physician, Dr. Steven Heffer, is capable of caring for every patient need, while being a quicker, easier, more convenient and affordable alternative to large hospital emergency rooms.
“Not only will Doctors Express help reduce the burden at our area’s busiest emergency rooms, like Bridgeport Hospital and St. Vincent’s, but our services can greatly decrease the wait time for patients and meet their most immediate medical needs,” said Heffer. “Our objective is to help our patients quickly and effectively. The Doctors Express goal is to have all patients treated in 30 – 60 minutes.”
As a fully staffed patient care facility catering to any age, from infant to elderly, Doctors Express can handle all types of medical emergencies from life threatening and painful physical conditions to pre and post treatment assessments and follow-up attention.
“We will treat everything from asthma to allergies, stitches to sinus infections, and breaks to burns. We offer flu shots, travel immunizations and physicals. Our goal will be to evaluate and treat most patients in under an hour. We have an on-site laboratory for blood and urine tests, x-ray, and an on-site pharmacy for patient convenience. You could call it a one-stop comprehensive medical center,” said Dr. Heffer.
The new Bridgeport office is in the Bayview Plaza (landmarked as part of the Bridgeport Post Office plaza, and behind Burger King on Boston Ave.), which is conveniently located right off CT Routes 8 and 25, and a few minutes from I-95. The Doctors Express staff of 15-20 operates its own on-site laboratory, pharmacy and x-ray equipment enabling doctors and licensed professionals to diagnose and treat illnesses, dispense medication, set broken bones, and tend to thousands of other patient care needs, all under one roof. In addition to urgent care, additional services include pre-employment exams, drug screening, pre-surgical, sports and school physicals.
The facility is the first Doctors Express Urgent Care Center in Bridgeport and joins a group of more than 140 locations in 26 states across the country that treat more than 1 million patients annually. Because Bridgeport is the largest city in Connecticut, Doctors Express Bridgeport location will play an important role in the community. In addition to its urgent care capabilities, Doctors Express offers local businesses the option for convenient occupational health services for their employees.
Doctors Express Urgent Care will be open 7 days a week, no appointments necessary, Monday – Friday from 8am-8pm, and 8am-5pm on weekends.
