Cathy McMorris Rodgers speaks at facebook event in Spokane

My US House Rep, Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) invited me to a facebook "Boost" event today in Spokane and I decided to attend. She was the guest speaker and gave a brief pep talk to the business owners in attendance.

I set out at 7:30am and drove through a snow storm to get there.

Cathy has been moving up in the Republican party and as many of you know, gave the rebuttal to President Obama's recent State of the Union address. Today she looked great and her message was upbeat to the friendly audience. I got a bit of a shock when the man who introduced her included "the environment" as one of the issues Cathy champions. I didn't know that.

Shortly after the main presentation to Spokane area business owners began, Cathy got up to leave. Her path was blocked by attendees so she had to ask the woman behind me to scoot back so she could pass behind my chair. I could have reached out and touched her. lol

I wished I could have stopped on my way into the entrance to the Spokane Convention Center where the event took place. About 15-20 protesters were picketing with signs that had Cathy's face on them. I couldn't read what the signs said but as I drove past the group, I caught one gal's eye and gave her a smile and a wave. I can only imagine what they were mad about. Any guesses?

All in all, the trip was worth it. I picked up some tamarind paste for my son, I bought some heavy duty shipping tape at Staples and I returned all my empty bottles to the recycling depot. The event gave me some insights into improving my social media outreach. The trip home was sunny and beautiful.

And I got to make this video to share with you.

    Enjoy and thanks for watching!
