16-year old Polish boy volunteers in Kiev amidst violence

At the age of 14 Michal (Poland) completed a first aid course with a local Red Cross office in Warsaw. Little did he know that just two years later, his skills would come handy in helping medical personnel in field hospitals in bloodstained Kiev.

After having lived in post-war Kosovo and through the Rose Revolution and the 2008 war in Georgia, Michal (now 16) felt compelled to go to Ukraine and see if he could help in any way. He flew to Kiev on 20 February and immediately went to the field hospital the St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery. Later, he was assigned to first aid points at Euromaidan that treated the wounded in the 20 February massacre.

Michal is still in Kiev, and can tell his story himself:; +48 730 642425
