"Dirty Wars" Creator Discusses War and His Academy Award Nomination

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     fordfischer told me, 'Mr. Scahill had just finished speaking at a panel entitled “Imperial Overreach and the National Security State” where he and Oliver Stone discussed America’s current foreign policy and how it is harmful and unethical. One of the main points they made was that when it comes to foreign policy since the Obama presidency began, Republicans and Democrats are both increasingly pro-war, and may as well be considered one single party: “The War Party."'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

I interview Jeremy Scahill, who is currently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, at the International Students for Liberty Conference, where he had just spoken about foreign policy alongside Oliver Stone (Platoon, JFK). We discuss the current politics of war, how students and others at home can be a part of fighting against the institution of war, and the role his book and movie may have in that movement.
