My son has travelled since he was 3 months old, but this past summer, we went on our first real vacation. We had always gone up to Seattle to visit family, but this time, we were invited to go to South Padre Island, Texas to visit other family. My son has had a fascination with the beach and had only been to Galveston Island when he was 2. We live in Texas, so there aren't many options. This summer, him being 6, we finally took a short vacation that he could remember. He kept proclaiming that it was "the best day of my life!". Seeing the joy on his face as he frollicked in the water was priceless. He still talks about it. Everything went perfect - there weren't any hang ups. He could appreciate what we did and it's provided lasting memories for he and I.
