Our daughters were 6 & 8 when we took them to the "Running of the Bulls" in Pamplona to see their Daddy run just 2 months after his Whipple operation due to Duodenal Cancer. He ran on July 7, 2011...the day of our 10th wedding anniversary. But it was the "Chupinazo", or "Opening Ceremony" the day before that was the big shock! A drunken, hedonistic mosh pit in the center of town, everyone in their "whites" with purple sangria spraying everywhere, and people throwing buckets of sobering, hydrating water from their balconies on the people below that made Carnaval and Mardi Gras look like church on Sunday! Quite a memorable way to start my daughters' life of international travel! My 6 yr. old (arm in a cast from a break 2 weeks prior) asked while on the train to Barcelona, "are people in the next city going to throw alcohol on us?" We loved every minute!!
