This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Your child's travel firsts

    Villa D'Este, Lake Como

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Georgette Alithinos said that the only thing that really went wrong when she and her husband took their 11-month-old son, Alexander, to Lake Como in Italy was that there was no changing table in the Milano airport. "Alexander needed a diaper change desperately," she said. "We had to do the very messy diaper change on his stroller. They should have baby changing areas in all airports."

Alithinos believes that after 10 months, a child is ready to travel. "They really do understand, and although they probably will remember very little if anything from the trips, the experiences stay with them subconciously," she said. "It does enrich their development and shapes their character, whether they remember or not."

When our little boy was 10 months old we took him to Villa D' Este at Lake Como, Italy. It was such an amazing trip what a beautiful property and grounds. Alexander loved it, they had a special cot for him and everyone was so nice! I remember one morning having breakfast in the main dining area and Alexander got sick and ended up throwing up all over their very expensive carpet, table and the waiters and staff were so wonderful they were just concerned about Alexander!

It was just a great trip and one we will never forget!

Alexander is now 6 and we are planning on revisiting with our daughter who is 3.

It is great place to visit with kids!
