    Your child's travel firsts

2 year old in Business Class Lie Flat Seat

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Lee Huffman has been traveling all his life, but his most memorable travel experience was the first trip he took without his parents to Moscow. "It was a fantastic trip that really opened my eyes to the world," he said. He and his wife Anna have been traveling since they first started dating, and now they include their son Timothy, who recently turned three. "We want him to understand that the world is so much bigger than what he sees every day at home, and we hope that he catches the travel bug and continues exploring the world long after it is no longer 'cool' to travel with his parents," he said.

In Paris, Timothy seemed to most enjoy chasing the pigeons outside the Louvre, Huffman told us, but he and his wife made sure to take a lot of pictures and create postcards from them using Postagram so that Timothy will have memories of this trip when he's older.

An ideal age for traveling? Huffman doesn't believe there is one. "Like they say about saving money, the best time to start would have been years ago, and the second best time is now," he said.

My wife, son, mother-in-law and I flew to NYC and Paris for a 2 week trip using airline miles and hotel points earned from my website BaldThoughts.com. We flew economy class there, but splurged using miles for Business Class on the way home. It was such a sight to see a 2 year old sleeping on a lie-flat seat.
