What do you love about Chicago?
Chicago, "True Family Town".
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer
A word “Boring” maybe non existence in Chicago. I consider the Chicago a playground for the entire family regardless of the time of day or night. Not only Chicago is a well-diversified but is so beautiful, vibrant and full of life.
My favorite; endless food options from tandoori chicken, Briyani and nan at Devon Ave, lamb chops in Greek town, infusion of Randolph and Fulton Market, coffee shops and Italian and Latin food fare in almost every corner of the city, steamy hot dishes of china town, Thai noodles, BBQ and deep fried fish of Southside, French Bistros, burgers, steaks, sea food, German Brauhauses, Irish Pubs and much more.
Year around sports, museums, entertainment, Broadway theaters, Comedy centers and movie experience, and off course the live concerts. There is never shortage of young adults who are willing to wait in long lines to experience firsthand the changing mood of Night life as new avenues keep appearing on the block.
It makes an unforgettable experience when sipping of hot chocolate, coffee or tea while window shopping of fashion designers of Pakistan and India on Devon Ave or Boutique shops of Oak streets and magnificent Michigan Ave. Better yet, enjoying a glass of wine while exploring the timeless beauty of art displays in art galleries form River north to Halstead Street, Vickers Park and off course the Lill Street Studios.
Unlike any other city in the world, Chicago is sexy, bold and energetic; picture perfect skyline and prominent architecture, Bridges of Chicago River, and Lincoln Park Zoo in the heart of the city provide an amazing experience any time of the year and of course, dazzling zoo lights and Michigan Ave lights during Christmas and winter holiday season. Sunrise or sunset, beautiful Beaches of Lake Michigan along the lake shore drive from South to North are there to be enjoyed by everyone to play beach volley ball, strolling under the naked sky, swimming, diving, sailing, fishing, grilling or even camping.
My another favorite; beautiful gardens of Chicago from Lincoln Park to Botanic Gardens and garden tours of neighborhoods homes in summer is a whole new experience along with never ending Summer fests, Block parties, and Art fairs from grant park to neighborhoods of Southside to North side which may cause traffic jams but for sure will help you forget the winter blues.
I wonder sometimes during bitter cold winter nights, why I still live here, but after enjoying my favorite scotch or whiskey, usually my thoughts are vanished into the night and the best part is waking up every freezing windy morning to smell the aroma of my own winter spicy chai with touch of cognac which just creates a mood of whole new wonderful day in Chicago.
Chicago is famous for Midwesterner hospitality, built and fueled by Immigrants and a peaceful union of people across the globe, “A Mini United Nations”. As it may have been said many times, “It is my kind of town” but I wish to add “A never ending love affair”.
