The first thing you want to do is eat more protein and less carbohydrates. In a 75% to 25% ratio at least.
You see, as we're growing up, we need more carbohydrates than protein to give us energy, but after we reach the age of 30 our level of physical activity slows down and so does our metabolism. In order to keep our metabolism burning fat the way it's supposed to, we need to give it less carbohydrates and consume more protein.
This means less bread, tortillas, rice, potatoes (in any form), etc. and more meat, chicken, fish, beans, nuts and milk. TrailMix makes a good snack. You should always try to include salad and vegetables of course.
