    More from Ninua

She is equal / more than the Yardstick

Today is March 8th , official holiday in 27 nations . The celebration is about awareness of showing respect & love towards womanhood which comprises about half of the world’s population .

While The sex ratio for the entire world population is 101 males to 100 females , unfortunately it is not same in all places . There is a huge gap between quotient . The reason is dearness for son which leads to gendercide, foeticide etc . Dowry is a major cause in modern India for which people prefer a male child . Treating women as second rated citizens inside four walls to work & public places, seeing more in them an object rather than ‘the person she is’ are reasons behind commencement of this day .

We have to envisage first individually then collectively about our own attitude . Do women support themselves ? then why there are mother-in-laws , sister-in-laws are behind a dowry torture or death of a bride ? do all women support each other at work place to debar harassment by opposite gender ? first of all if women realize to stand by each other then most of the problem will be solved .

Yet there are enough elements in both men and women to celebrate the day . They support each other for better and balanced society which will dissipate misunderstanding , ignorance and disapproval . This cooperation took her from mere home maker to the position of astronaut , CEO , defense personnel and in all spheres to prove herself being a loving daughter , sister , wife , daughter-in-law , mother , friend and colleague .

Let’s commemorate 2014 "Equality for women is progress for all “ , beyond diversity of nationality , culture , status .
