Escasez y desabastecimiento golpean a los Venezolanos

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     CarlosBCRRA took these photos in 3 different supermarkets, all located at La Boyera in Caracas, Venezuela. "People say they have to wait in line for 2 hours in order to buy something. They have to go to up to 5 stores during the day to find what they are looking for," Carlos says. He adds that in some cases you leave the supermarket empty-handed. Our iReporter asked the people in line about their thoughts on what the government said regarding the guarimbas (barricades) and the shortage. According to the government, Carlos says, the main cause of food and first goods shortage is the existence of barricades: trucks cannot get to the stores. Carlos explains that the buyers told him that this is not the case, the guarimbas started 3 weeks ago, but there has been shortage for months.
