After 12 years of support, Microsoft has announced on April 8, 2014 about a month away that the Windows XP extended support is ending. This means short term limited support and no security patches in the future. Best get off it by upgrading the operating system or buying a new computer with Windows 8.1 preinstalled. Last Black Friday, I purchased two new desktop PC's and a laptop PC for friends that were still on Windows XP computers. I was able to get them at a great price as I informed my friends XP was being dropped soon. I wonder how many people will scramble this month as XP applications and security products start to fail. I don't think Microsoft has advertised this date very well. Not sure if they are only targeting those affected as I no longer know anyone on Windows XP anymore. Good luck to those forced to react this final month.
