Berkin Elvan, a 15-year old victim of police violence dies today after 270 days of coma.
The police officer who shot him has never been brought to justice. Now he is a killer. He needs to be brought to justice.
Two days ago, on his 268th day of comatose state, when Berkin’s health deteriorated and had to be put on life support, many people went to visit him at the SSK Okmeydani Education and Research Hospital. The police attacked the crowd who were giving support to Berkin and his family in front of the hospital.
The Turkish government has never claimed responsibility for such an atrocious act. The police officer who executed such a violent act has never been found or held accountable for his act.
This is another case where the Turkish police have fired the pepper gas canisters too close to people. Some victims of this violence lost their lives and some lost their eyes.
It is unacceptable to witness that the ones who have given such violent orders at the government level and the ones who have executed these orders have not been held accountable before the rule of law and human rights council for their violent and inhuman acts.
