‘Excellence On Tour!’: A Road-Show In Kolkata By German House For Research And Innovation
German House for Research and Innovation also known as Deutsches Wissenschafts- und Innovations Haus in New Delhi, in association with the Consulate General of Federal Republic of Germany in Kolkata will organize “Excellence on Tour!” from 22nd to 28th March 2014 at Science City Kolkata.
Renowned Guests of the Event:
The Road-Show will be inaugurated by the German Consul General, Mr. Rainer Schmiedchen, Vice-President of the German Research Foundation (DFG). The event will be graced by Professor Dr. Dorothea Wagner, IISER Kolkata Director, Professor Dr. R. N. Mukherjee, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, Professor Dr. Laurent Gizon and the Undersecretary for International Cooperation of the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Mr. Maximilian Metzger.
Outline of the Event:
The event will be enriched and enhanced with Info-sessions organized by Indian and German universities and institutes, providing information on the courses they offer in the fields of research, technology and innovation. Leading institutions like Jadavpur University, IACS and IICB, will administer individual activities to highlight their significant research work and projects.
Research funding organizations from Germany will be organized to inform students and attract them to pursue their higher studies and research projects in Germany. Parallel activity sessions including exhibitions, scientific workshops, lectures, symposia and quizzes will be held during the weeklong event. Another interesting event that will take place is the science slam for young scientists which will provide an opportunity for the top performer to win a trip to Germany. The program will also include inspiring cultural events conducted in association with Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata.
About Excellence on Tour:
The “Excellence on Tour”, an initiative of the German Government and the German House for Research and Innovation is an unique multi-city Road Show which will bring together academics, researchers, scientists and aspiring students from India and Germany to present their innovative research work and grab amazing career opportunities in Germany.
The “DWIH New Delhi - EoT” is designed and set-up in a multi-functional pavilion, created by internationally renowned German artist, Mr. Markus Heinsdorff. This road show has successfully been conducted in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad in 2013 and is travelling to Kolkata this year in March, 2014.
