Why study abroad? Ask Michelle Obama

A Year in Madrid, a Lifetime of Wanderlust

I spent my entire junior year in Madrid, Spain and have since incorporated international education into most aspects of my life - working in the Spanish Language department at Marist College, working in the Marist International Programs department, and interning with Academic Programs International (API).
Why cram all of these activities into my senior year? Because it is what I am passionate about; and I learned that during my time in Europe. I learned how precious my time is, and how important it is to use it to apply my skills to what I am most passionate about: International exchange.
There is something so powerful that comes from putting yourself in a new place, challenging your comfort zone and taking advantage of opportunity. Because of Spain, I now view the world as mine, and I believe that my eyes have been opened to curiosity, to newness and to travel.
