Sunbathing with jet planes in the Caribbean
St. Martin / St. Barthelemy – Because many of the Caribbean Islands are volcanic mountains, flat land is hard to come by and often the island’s airport runway is right next to the beach allowing beachgoers an unprecedented up close and personal view of landing and departing takeoffs of both small single propeller planes to the Boeing 747 jumbo jet.
On the island of St. Martin, tourist will flock to the small Maho Beach adjacent to Princess Juliana International Airport just for the opportunity of being right underneath a landing jetliner or to feel the power of the jet blast of a 747 at full power takeoff.
On St. Barthelemy at St Jean beach it is a bit of different story as small single and dual engine planes takeoff right over sunbathers with some of the turbo pistoned planes showing off as they fly over the water as beach goers.
