Georgia’s Minister of Energy Emphasizes Khudoni Importance

Georgia’s Minister of Energy, Kakha Kaladze conducted a meeting with experts in the energy field and members of the parliament’s sector economics committee, where they discussed various aspects of the country’s energy politics and their long-term strategies. Among the conversations about ongoing energy processes, the meeting also touched upon the sensitive Khudoni HPP project. Kaladze made a few statements on the subject.

“We will be able to convince the local population that the Khudoni HPP is important. We will be able to convince them that it’s important for the country,” stated the Minister, further elaborating on the interest given project garners in society. “Our stance is that this project is very important, as well as quite painful for the local population, but we will manage to convince them that it’s not only important for Svaneti residents, but for the entire country as well.”

The Minister continued discussing the project and other directions of Georgia’s energy strategies with the experts and committee members, noting that similar meetings have taken place numerous times and are planned to be held again.
