Bicycling around Ireland
In September 2013 I rode a bicycle roughly 1000 km around Ireland, starting in Dublin, proceeding south to Cork and around the Beara and Dingle peninsulas, before ending in Galway. Bicycling proved to be one of the best ways to see Ireland, and the people and places I saw while straying away from the main tourist trails provided a lifetime of memories.
Some of the highlights included the Beara Peninsula, recommended by locals over the over-touristed Ring of Kerry. The rocky, barren landscape peppered with tiny villages and flocks of sheep was fascinating and truly had the "Land's End" type feel.
