Masked gunmen storm hotel Moscow in Simferopol
Around 8 p.m. local time masked gunmen stormed hotel Moscow in Simferopol, where mostly international journalists are staying. Downstairs, where journalists reluctant to go to their rooms gathered, two officials gave two conflicting statements on the reason of their presence. A man identifying himself as interior minister of Crimea said this was part of an antiterrorist drill. Approx. 40 min later a man, who identified himself as minister of defence of Crimea - gen. Valeriy Kuznetsov said the reason for their presence was a false alarm without specifying which exactly. As the masked gunmen were gradually leaving, some of them confronted and openly threatened journalists, who were filming them.
